Summer Courses
2010-2011 Class Schedule
  • We highly recommend that all of our dancers take Ballet and Tap.  Ballet offers a strong
technical foundation that dancers will use in any style of dance.  Tap teaches rhythm and helps
dancers develop a stronger understanding of music.

  • We recommend adding additional classes like jazz, lyrical, modern, hip hop, or breakdance to
suit the interest of your dancer.  This helps your dancer stay interested and motivated, plus
they can see how their technical training applies to different styles!

  • Once dancers reach the 300 level, we recommend that dancers consider taking multiple ballet
classes per week.  Just adding a second ballet or ballet-tap combination class will drastically
improve your dancer's technical ability.  If your dancer is interested in dancing en pointe,
auditioning for lead roles at the studio, or exploring other advanced dancing options in the
future, then multiple days of technical ballet training are crucial.

  • Dancers taking pointe are required to take ballet at least twice a week to help dancers condition
their bodies and understand the fine details of ballet and pointe work.  Three classes of ballet/
pointe a week is highly recommended.

  • The best option for maintaining technique and improving as a dancer is to take classes
consistently.  Dancers advance greater from year to year if they continue study throughout the
summer.  Pointe dancers are required to take weekly classes throughout the summer in order
for them to maintain thier technique and the ability to dance safely en pointe.

  • Take different styles of dance!  You never know what you love unless you have explored your
    options!
